Basic information about Hyperhidrosis


Do you know about hyperhidrosis? This is the common disorder condition characterized because increased perspiration. It will cause excessive sweating of the hands. Hyperhidrosis is not a temporary condition, and most people have suffered with it since childhood. Not just hands, it also effect on your foot, underarm and facial. This condition will make people who suffer feel uncomfortable and embarrassing. The uncontrollable sweating can lead to significant discomfort, both physical and emotional. It can negatively affect people both socially and functionally in their daily lives. This syndrome affects 2 – 3% of the population worldwide.
From research, this condition is an inherited problem. Most infected people have a family history that gets this disease. People don’t get big problem because this condition but they suffer in their lives. Other factors that may contribute hyperhidrosis are hyper thyroidism ,obesity , infections and diabetes.
There are some basic tips for people suffer the hyperhidrosis :-

• Wear loose fitting garments made of fabric that does not stain.
• Use the group of medications known as anticholinergics, which reduce sweating
• Try garments that are designed to absorb sweat.
• Use iontopheresis.It is using electrical stimulation. The patients place hands in a bath using electrical current. This treatment need to “stun” hand to decrease the secretion of sweat.
• Expect to change your socks several times a day.
• Use absorbent insoles in shoes and replace them frequently.
• Don’t wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row; leave them to dry out and increase their life span.
• Choose a non-soap cleanser.
• Use prescription medication, especially if the rate of perspiration is heavy, or the sweating is taking place all over the body
• Use talcum powder or corn starch powder after bathing.
• Avoid foods and drinks that contain caffeine (coffee, tea, cola drinks, chocolate).
