As the year (and decade) comes to a close and we’re all ushered into 2020, you might be looking for a new diet plan to try, perhaps one that can help you lose weight while also making sure you’re still healthy and not forcing yourself to lose those pounds.
If so, then the keto diet might be the one for you.
Keto Diet
Fully known as the ketogenic diet, following it means that a lot of the daily calories you need daily will be coming from fat instead of the usual carbohydrates that your body uses. This means that when followed properly and with discipline, you can lose weight by following it via the state of ketosis. There are other health benefits as well, such as improving your blood sugar and controlling blood pressure and overall heart health.

As a diet, your daily carb consumption is reduced to under 50 grams a day, although it can be as little as 20 grams a day. This means that after three or four days with little glucose available from your diet, the body starts to use fat as the primary fuel, achieving ketosis and helping you lose weight.
Foods To Eat When On Keto
You can actually still eat a lot of the food you’re already eating, which means you can eat beef, pork, lamb, game and poultry. However, when it comes to choosing the type of meat to eat, remember to get ones that are not processed or just prepare your own unprocessed meat.
Fish and other seafood are also good, as well as dairy products like eggs, butter, cheese and cream. You can eat vegetables (leafy and green kind), while fruits are generally a no-no.
What To Avoid
When it comes to what to avoid, one of the biggest no-nos is sugar and all its many forms. Milk should also be generally avoided, as well as beef. For keto diet followers, plain water, black and white tea is your best bet.
You should also be avoiding potatoes, bread, rice and pasta.
