Swimming is one of the best hobbies that anybody could take up. It is also good for our health. It’s a skill that can be learned at any age and at your own pace, and it’s one that will do wonders for your self-confidence. It’s a hobby through which you could make lifelong friends with a shared interest. It could enable you to save someone’s life if you saw that they were in imminent risk of drowning.

It’s also an activity that provides a significant boost to your body. It burns plenty of calories with little or no strain and it improves your flexibility, posture and motor co-ordination. It is excellent for relieving dull pains in your joints and is the perfect form of exercise for people with medical conditions such as arthritis. It’s also one of the few exercises which works your entire body rather than just one or two parts, making it suitable for anyone to try.

This infographic from The Water Filter Men explains some of the basic swimming techniques for people who are just starting out on the learning process, or who intend learning to swim. While all swimming lessons should be conducted under careful, competent supervision, they can be very enjoyable while giving your body a tremendous, pain-free workout. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go. You will not regret it!
