Get more Appealing Legs with Liposuction

Liposuction has become the go to procedure when it comes to sculpting the body and ridding unwanted fat. This popular treatment can be applied virtually anywhere in the body and is most common in the abdominal and thigh region. While these are important areas to maintenance, the legs are often forgotten! With summer in full swing, weather is calling everyone to showcase shorts and bikinis. Liposuction is quickly gaining popularity to ensure that legs are slim, natural, and appealing for the summer season, as well as every season.

Despite exercise and dieting, select fat deposits can be nearly impossible to take down. In our legs superficial fat may form in areas such as the thighs, knees, ankles, and calves. This may cause legs to look oddly shaped and generally unattractive. Like many fat deposits all over the body, fat on the legs is often genetic and therefore very hard to tame without the help of liposuction.

Using Liposuction

In the past decade liposuction has improved dramatically in that patients experience little to no scarring due to minimally invasive approaches that require small incisions. The modern procedure also features decreased risk, minimal downtime, and amazing results. One of the major changes is the implementation of tumescent anesthesia. This is used to numb a localized area and prevent bleeding. It also allows the patients to stay awake during the procedure and does not involve all of the complications and risks of general anesthesia. Liposuction today also uses various methodologies such as laser technology. Using laser assisted liposuction, fat can be melted and sculpted to allow easier removal via the cannula. The heat of the laser also acts to tighten the surrounding skin for more natural results.

How is the Recovery for Leg Liposuction?

Liposuction recovery will vary on the amount of fat removed and the location it was taken from. Since legs contain more superficial fat, they may require additional post care. For leg liposuction, the initial incisions are left open to heal naturally and to allow drainage. Compression garments are typically worn to assist in the healing process.

Patients are encouraged to walk around to promote drainage and decrease swelling. The legs are expected to be a little sore after the procedure but will quickly improve in the days following. Full results can typically be seen within a week after the treatment. This means that excess fat is permanently removed from the legs and you can return to normal activities just in time for summer.
