Effects Of Hypertension You Need To Be Aware Of

Most people are aware that hypertension, or high blood pressure, is bad for them but they are not fully aware of the effects it can have on their body. There are numerous causes of hypertension for a person and it can be difficult for a person to change everything in their life to make an effective impact.

However, understanding the effects of hypertension and the serious nature of the condition may make it easier for some people to change their lifestyle.

One of the biggest effects of hypertension is on the heart and the fact that it forces the heart to work harder to pump blood around the body. This is because the arteries are narrowed and this increased effort, forces the heart to increase in size. The increase is notable in thickness, which is caused by greater levels of stress and the increased fluid it has to store.

When the heart stretches too much, damage is caused to the muscle tissue and this reduces the effectiveness of the heart to pump blood around the body. Once this tear takes place, the damage cannot be reversed and usually by the time the affect is noticed, it is too late to make a positive change. This is why it is important to be aware of the dangers of hypertension and to reduce the likelihood of it occurring.

The reduced level of blood flowing around the body also causes angina, which is literally a pain in the heart. When it occurs, it feels as though the chest area is being squeezed and angina pain can be excruciating. Angina can also be a factor in the oxygen supply to the heart being blocked or cut off, which is a main cause of heart attacks.

It is not an exaggeration to say that high blood pressure has a direct link to people suffering a heart attack.

There are many different effects of hypertension, all related to the narrowing of the arteries and the way blood flows around the body. A consistent flow of blood and oxygen around the body is crucial to remain healthy and when this stops happening, serious consequences can occur.
