There have been a great deal of studies performed that prove that happiness and improved overall physical and mental functionality can be attributed to increased physical activity. Unfortunately, technological innovations take away from a great deal of movement that you would normally get without them. The very things that are making us more efficient as a species are what is keeping many children and adults obese and depressed.
Increasing the amount of physical activity you get in a day can make a profound difference in how you view life in general. The best part is you don’t need to spend money at a gym in order to feel better about yourself. How can increasing your activity improve your outlook of life?
1. Personal Disappointment – There are a lot of people in the world that become depressed because of the way they look. Many of them will continue to eat because of this depression – further compounding the problem. By getting more physical activity, you can begin to burn away that extra mass collecting onto your body. It won’t be an instant, overnight fix, but it will lay the ground work to help you feel better about yourself.
2. Endorphins – Have you ever experienced a “runners high?” Essentially, marathon runners can experience a euphoric frame of mind by running to the point of dropping. This is the body producing endorphins into the blood stream in order to quell the pain of such an exhausting exercise. Although it’s not the same kind of high as you would get from an illegal substance, it’s a natural state of mind that can make everything seem insignificant to the moment.
3. Higher Energy Use – By subjecting yourself to a regular form of activity, you are allowing your body to utilize the materials available to increase your energy level. Over time, you’ll find that you are becoming more and more active as you now have the energy to complete various tasks around the house. As the weeks progress, your weight will begin to decrease and you’ll find that you feel more positive about various aspects of life than you used to.
4. Stamina – A lot of people have a low active lifestyle simply because they don’t have the energy or the stamina in order to maintain longevity in any given activity. Unfortunately, many of these people will simply give up on the activity as they don’t believe they can accomplish anything. That is the wrong way to think. If you are unable to sustain an activity longer than five minutes, then that is reason enough to keep doing the activity as often as possible. Stamina can help you in a variety of ways from keeping up with the children to keeping up with your significant other romantically.
As long as you can increase the amount of physical activity you receive in any given day, you will be able to feel the difference inside the first two weeks. As time progresses, you may find that you are looking for other activities in order to improve your overall fitness. You don’t have to give up your comfortable couch or the games you play on your computer. Just make sure you can keep your body active during the breaks.
