Bukit Merah Laketown Resort pledges full cooperation in rotavirus investigation

BUKIT MERAH: The Bukit Merah Laketown Resort (BMLR) management has pledged their full cooperation to the authorities to investigate the source of the rotavirus infection which affected several visitors to its water park recently. Its general manager Kamal Hussein said the water park has been closed for two days to enable health officers to conduct inspections and obtain samples from its facility. “We have also allowed them to obtain food samples at our premises,” he said when contacted today. He said the BMLR management will take appropriate action if it is proven that the virus originated from its water park. However, he hoped that the public would not blow the issue out of proportion before the authorities finalise their investigation.

Yesterday, the Kedah Health Department confirmed that seven children were admitted to hospital with a rotavirus infection, after they had allegedly spent time at the water park last weekend.
