Do you know about neti pots? Neti pot is look like a genie lamp pot. It is commonly used to irrigate sinuses. There’s a warning from Louisiana Department of Health and Hospital about the usage of the pot that cause death effect on brain eating amoeba. A victim DeSoto Parish a 51 year old woman died after using tap water in a neti pot to irrigate her sinuses. The woman has been infected by the amoeba which entered the body through her nose. It is second case after a 20 year old man died under the same circumstances.
“If you are irrigating, flushing, or rinsing your sinuses, for example, by using a neti pot, use distilled, sterile or previously boiled water to make up the irrigation solution,” said Louisiana State Epidemiologist, Dr. Raoult Ratard. “Tap water is safe for drinking, but not for irrigating your nose.”
The infection will occurs when people go diving or swimming in warm freshwater lakes and rivers. Drinking the tap water is safe but not for irrigating nose.

From the news, the issue is not neti pot but how you used it. It will become danger if there’s unproperly used it.
