E-payment services to health clinic nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: The health ministry will extend the e-payment service to 957 government health clinics nationwide to facilitate payment transactions.

Its secretary-general, Dr Chen Chaw Min, said the programme would be implemented in phases beginning with 12 clinics in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and 45 clinics in Selangor this month.
“At the moment, the payment for services provided at all government health clinics must be made by cash at the registration counters.

“However, in line with the government’s call for Malaysia to become a ‘cashless nation’ by 2050, the ministry has taken the initiative to introduce e-payment for medical bills at the health clinics,” he said during the launch of the programme at the Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic today.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with RHB Islamic Bank Bhd, with its managing director Adisadikin Ali also present at the launch.

Chen said the e-payment method was already available at 115 hospitals, one district health office and four selected health institutions.

He said from January to March this year, RM3.14 million in payments were recorded online via 4,550 transactions at all these health facilities.
