Grape Seed Extract kills cancer cells

Grape Seeds

According to a study published in the journal Nutrition and Cancer, the research suggests that a component found in grape seed extract is effective in killing prostate cancer cells. The researcher from University of Colorado Cancer Center found the potential of grape seed extract (GSE) to fight prostate cancer cells.

Although the previous research show its effectiveness against cancell cells but which element of GSE that produce these effect still unknown.

In the new study, they discovered a component of Grape Seed Extract called B2G2 that are the most active against cancer cells. The bad news is the isolating the compound from GSE is very costly and takes a long time which halted any further experiments using this process. The researcher has tested the synthesized B2G2 compound on human prostate cancer cells. The compound was found to induce cancer cell death known as apoptosis but left healthy cells unharmed.
This new findings mean they are a step closer to understanding the possible effects and mechanisms of active componenets in GSEs that are effective against cancer cells.

Alpna Tyagi from University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in his statemet sadi :-

Isolating and synthesizing B2G2 is an important step because now we have the ability to conduct more experiments with the pure compound.

Ongoing work in the lab further increases our understanding of B2G2?s mechanism of action that will help for the preclinical and clinical studies in the future.”

This is good news in health industry. Maybe it is the beginning to fight cancer.
