Turmeric
Turmeric is an effective cure for lower back pain because it has potent anti-inflammatory properties. But, it is better to take it orally, by adding it to milk or other food, rather than applying it topically. Applying turmeric directly makes skin yellow which is difficult to wash.

Ginger
With its strong inflammatory properties, Ginger is one of the most widely used treatments for lower back pain is ginger. Crush it and extract its juice and mix it with olive oil to massage over the skin and leave it on overnight. Remember to wash it with lukewarm water.

Garlic
Garlic also has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce lower back pain and swelling as well. Apply garlic paste to your lower back and leave it for 30 to 45 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water. Repeat this several times a day.

Hot bath
If pain is experienced for more than a day after injury, ice will not help to eliminate inflammation or pain. Here heat is effective to increase elasticity of the muscles. So you can try soaking in a hot water tub for 20 or more minutes. Pregnant females, however, shouldn’t sit in such hot bath tub for too long.  This is because raising the body temperature over 100 degree F for long may cause miscarriages or birth defects.

Massage
