Infographic- What is CRPS and what can we do about it?

The painful impact of heartburn, a searing headache or a twisted ankle is difficult to endure even for a short few minutes, so imagine having to endure the pain of all of these throughout your entire life. Such is the burden that sufferers of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) need to shoulder. In the majority of cases it can subside over time, but for around 25% of all CRPS sufferers, the condition will leave them with a permanent disability, and quite possibly a severe one, too.

Most of us can only imagine how hard life must be for anyone battling this condition. At least they have the silver lining of knowing that there are ways to ease the pain of CRPS. Regular exercise, psychotherapy, appropriate medications and some surgical operations can all reduce the impact of CRPS. It also helps to keep a positive frame of mind, even if that can be rather challenging when every day of your life is a struggle. People with CRPS often acquire the motivation to battle through from one day to the next by believing that they ultimately will be cured of the condition. Where there is hope, there is the will to keep going and endure the hardship for the potential reward on offer.
