Do you know about mumps? Mumps is a disease caused by a virus. It causes swelling and pain in the parotid gland. It is highly contagious and the virus spreads through droplets from the mouth, nose and throat when they cough or sneeze. It can be contagious after 3 or 4 days after swelling begins.

Mumps Signs and Symptoms
Signs and symptoms begin after 12-25 days of infection associated with an infected person.
Some people infected with mumps have no symptoms early, they may face:
* Fever
* Headache
* Dry mouth and loss of appetite;
* Fatigue
* Swelling in one or both parotid glandsThese symptoms usually disappear within 10-12 days.
Mumps Treatment
There is no specific medication for mumps, but symptoms can be relieved by:
* Paracetamol to reduce fever and pain
* Take more drinks, but avoid acidic juices
* Put the ice in the parotid gland or testicles to melagakan pain.
People who are infected should stay home until they are no longer contagious (up to 9 days after swelling of the salivary gland) or until the swelling disappears.
Mumps Prevention
Mumps can be prevented by vaccination. Mumps vaccine is given at 12 months and then at the age of 7 years as part of the MMR vaccine (mumps, measles and rubella) is a very effective way to prevent mumps is
