IBS is associated with fructose malabsorption and hence, reducing fructose and fructan also reduces the symptoms. In case you experience intolerance to certain food, it is better to avoid such sensitizations by avoiding them. Some people have allergies to milk products due to improper digestion, so by reducing such FODMAP foods, fat, insoluble fiber, coffee, carbonated drinks and alcohol you can prevent the abrupt occurrence of irritable bowel syndrome. IBS-D is a condition where the patient experiences severe cramps and diarrhea. Antispasmodics, phenobartitone, will help reduce these symptoms. Probiotics, herbals such as peppermint oil, iberogast, kiwi fruit, Commiphora Mukul, plantagoovata are found to reduce the severity of IBS to a very great extent.

Stress Management

Irritable bowel syndrome is caused by severe infliction to stress. Hence patients are advised to undergo stress busing practices such as mediation, acupuncture. Physical exercises such as yoga or tai chi also serves well to reduce the effects of IBS. Daily dose of exercise will help you to keep the muscles in the digestive system active so that there no severe symptoms of constipation or diarrhea. So, regular walking, running, swimming will help to keep the digestive tract healthy and IBS away.
