Sitting can increase Type 2 diabetes risk

It is a bad news for those who work/sit for long period. The study from Diabetologia, show that the people sit for long period may face a higher risk of Type 2 diabetes. The studies lead by Dr Emma Wilmot show that the average adult spend 50-70 % sit may increase risk of diabetes and heart disease.

The result based on the 18 studies from 794,000 adults in the Canada, U.S, Europe, Australia and Japan. The studies also based on the respondent that sitting differently such as watching TV, driving vehicle and etc. The research also aimed to reduce screen time for young people. The research recommended that diabetes prevention programs consider promoting reduced sedentary behavior alongside increasing physical acivity levels and dietary changes.
Prof. Stuart Biddle from Loughborough University suggest this tips to reduce sitting time

1. Conducting meeting in the special ways. Don’t just sit but have a time for standing in the meeting.
2. Do some walking in lunch break instead of sitting and surfing facebook.
3. Do some activities in the evening and reduce tv viewing time
4. Placing a laptop on a filling cabinet.

There’s also a studies from BMJ Open concluded that reducing sitting time less than three hours per day could increase life expecancy.
