Foods To Avoid Before Prom Day!

By Ale Rossi

A friend of mine just told me the interesting news that he’s going to ask one of the loveliest ladies in his class to the prom. Classic romance, isn’t it! In every sense of the word! Need I say more that I’m overjoyed for him, and for her. Proms only come once in a lifetime and are meant to be enjoyed. While chatting on Facebook with him this morning we jabbed and talked about a slew of things, one of which had to do with which foods should be avoided the day before and on the prom day itself. Being the kind of person who loves new ideas for blogging, I thought this would be the perfect idea for an article. Which foods should be avoided when taking that special someone out?

Smelly Foods

Well, as a general rule of thumb, instead of trying to remember everything to avoid, the basic concept to keep in mind is to avoid any strong smelling foods. Okay, so there’s the usual approach of avoiding all things with garlic, onions, fish, sugar, caffeine, and eggs. But I’m sure you already knew that. 🙂 Strong smelling foods like garlic have sulphur compounds in them that cause bad breath. Even if you’ve brushed your teeth, flossed and gurgled CB12 mouthwash 2 times after eating certain strong smelling foods it’s not going to help because these scents remain both in your breath and body odour for up to 24 hours. I’d suggest that you avoid these foods altogether starting from the morning of the day before your prom.

Other foods to avoid are:

Alcohol—if you’re even allowed to drink in the first place, that is 😉

Cheese

Milk

Beef

Chicken

Coffee

Coke

–And as an extra, don’t smoke especially if the lady in question doesn’! Smoking can make your breath smell like nobody’s business and be a real turn off.

Teeth Clinging and Gap Filling Foods

The next rule of thumb is to not eat foods that you know will get stuck in your teeth before you smile that winning yearbook smile. Take a lesson fromGlee’sRachel Berry and flash a pearly smile, both onscreen and off. Your saliva generally does a great job at slipping and sliding all the food down your throat, but there are “those” days when your best friends still notice the spinach from lunch still in your teeth. Yikes!!! Fibrous and sticky foods easily become tooth huggers or gap fillers. You don’t want these for the look or the smell, for 1) it just looks gross, for 2) these leftover particles bread bacteria and cause bad breath. Floss well before the prom, and once you do, don’t eat this list of foods:

Meat

Mango

Pineapple

Popcorn

Caramel

Sticky Candies

Coconut

Seaweed

Bananas

and Spinach

Because it just won’t look or smell appealing.

Be sure that you drink lots of water on the day of the prom. Keep your entire system flushed out from any toxins that will cause evil smelling substances. And, not to sound like you mom when you were 6 years old here, but don’t forget to brush your teeth, floss, and use some CB12 mouthwash before you hit the road.

Lastly, CHEERS to the best Prom ever! And that’s that!
